Currently, I am on a journey of recovering from two brain surgeries I had 8 & 18 years ago for hydrocephalus, while fighting my body's want to develop an autoimmune disorder as response to the trauma from these operations. I was in school for a fine arts degree at the time of the second surgery, but gradually stopped drawing as I progressively lost my motor skills -a result of my decline. One of my doctors recommend that I pick up drawing again, to aide in my healing, with the intention of encouraging the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, as well as prompting both sides of the brain to "speak" with each other and work together (since they typically do not want to). Many of the images created with this mindset are entirely abstract. Occasionally though, you can see exactly what the brain is seeking to draw. This is one of the early drawings this mind-set produced. I have vastly improved since I have started this part of my therapy and I am amazed at how simply drawing can make me feel better on days that I am having trouble.
