A novel subcortical atlas defining targets for deep brain stimulation in standard stereotactic space. The core structures of the atlas are based on a high-resolution multispectral brain template. Gaps between structures not visible on MRI were filled using a high resolution histological dataset precisely co-registered to the template. Finally, key structures were further segmented using structural connectivity.
